Flood caused by the heavy rainfall (reaching 340 mm a day in certain area) strike Jakarta on the beginning of February 2007. Many areas in this capital city of Indonesia filled and the city practically paralyzed for a couple of days. Some of its 9 million inhabitant are trapped (or deliberately trap themselves) in their house (usually they stay at the second floor) without electricity while food are supplied by relatives. Some are evacuated to mosque or school. Jakarta sporadically hit by flood every rainy season but in the last decade the big flood comes every 5 year like what happen now.
