Mouth of Leang Petta Kere (Noble, Sacred Cave), Maros, South Sulawesi

The cave and the surrounding karst mountain range contain one of the oldest cave paintings known in history (from the latest study conducted in 2011 - 2013 by Wollongong and Griffith University of Australia, National Archeology Center of Indonesia and Makassar Center for Cultural and Heritage Preservation). The uranium dating result in the studied caves varies from 17,000 - 39,900 years old.
