'Gerakan Gemar Makan Ikan', literally means 'I Like to Eat Fish' act. Fish, as we know is a very healthy food. Rich in protein but with minimal cholesterol. And fish is obviously abundant in the Indonesian archipelago. The central government (Ministry of Sea and Fishery) sponsor this act. On December 17th, 2007, thousands people from throughout Wakatobi archipelago came by boat to Tomia Island to join the longest fish fry in the country and probably in the world. More than 5 tons of tongkol and the likes grilled at the same time in that morning
